We believe that our customers must know the basics of what goes into making their prints come to life on a T-shirt.

Printing on T-shirts is a very complex and time consuming process.  There are many types of printing methods available. It varies with the designs, number of colours, fabric on which printing has to be done and many other factors.

A good quality print/design needs a good quality T-shirt.

Here are the different methods of printing:

Screen Printing: Print out of the design that you have selected is taken on a special paper. This special paper is called screen. This screen is pressed against the cloth in screen printing equipment. Ink (Colour only) is then placed on the top of the screen and a floodbar is used to press the ink onto your t-shirt. Plastisol used as an ink to print. This printing can be done on 100% cotton T-shirts.

For every colour a different screen is made & used and that’s why the cost of screen printing goes up as you add the colours in your design. For a design having 2 colours: 2 different screens are used for each colour.

This printing method is ideal for large jobs. For a single piece the cost of developing screen is not cost effective.

DTG (Direct to Garment): This is relatively a new concept in printing T-shirts. As the name implies DTG prints directly onto the garment as per the design that is uploaded on its mainframe memory.

While screen printing is ideal for large jobs, the digital printing can be done on a single piece of T-shirt. We do digital printing on a state-of-art printing machine. Many colours can be printed at once as opposed to screen printing without any significant addition in cost. Many individuals prefer digital printing. This printing can be done on 100% cotton T-shirts.

Rubber printing: Rubber is used to print on T-shirt. It makes the T-shirt a bit heavy. Most of the shops just paste the whole badge on T-shirt instead of cutting along the boundary of the design.

Heat sublimation: This type of printing uses heat or ink jet printer to impose the image on T-shirt. 100% cotton T-shirts can’t be printed by the use of this method. 100% polyester T-shirts are ideal for it or to a varying degree the poly-cotton mix. Many printing shops use this type of printing to cut cost.

Dye sublimation: This type of printing is good for overall prints, although screen printing can be used for all over print but that takes a lot of labour. This printing with all over print is a costly process.

Most of the cheap T-shirts available in market are not combed cotton, bio washed and pre-shrunk. They are of very bad quality. They are OE (open ended yarn) around 18s and bulky. Their short length fibres are still attached to the fabric. They are more prone to pilling. Printing on these T-shirts is not of good quality.

Moreover most shops print on white T-shirt only that too on polyester T-shirt.

We use only DTG and Screen-printing for printing your ideas on 100% ring-spun combed cotton T-shirts. Embroidery option is coming soon…..
